I stayed at the house for a week with family and friends, 10 of us in all. The house is incredible and sits in a truly remarkable setting.
It has jaw droppings views of Saunton Sands and and the blue sky above. The design of the building was great with a huge open-plan kitchen, dining and living room all with amazing views. During the day time the beach is literally steps away via the gate at the bottom of the garden and a private path. To the back of the beach there are miles of sand dunes which were perfect for walking with the kids and kept them entertained for hours.
The really terrific thing was the flexibility to be able to ‘pop’ back to the house from the sea in just a few minutes to have lunch or a break from the sun. Aside from the beach there is a lovely garden at the back of the house that slopes down via a few levels and is fully visible from the main house, so our kids could play outside happily in complete security, allowing us to enjoy long evenings, usually beginning with a cocktail in hand overlooking the glorious sunsets.
We recently spent a few years in Australia and didn’t consider the UK to be able to match up as a beach holiday…. but this has changed our mind.
